M-Code Time and Frequency Standard SyncServer® S650 from Microchip

MicrochipSyncServers

GPS M-Code Referenced Time & Frequency Standard

The new SyncServer S650 M-Code Time and Frequency Instrument provides unprecedented synchronization flexibility and performance using Microchip FlexPort™ technology. The GPS M-Code referenced S650 is designed for high security, modern military electronics, and networks that require best-in-class synchronization performance easily adaptable to a wide range of applications.

The SyncServer S650 M-Code is the first time and frequency instrument with an embedded GPS M-code receiver.

And it is DISA approved.

The Industry’s first SyncServer S650 M-Code time & frequency Instrument provides a secure, accurate, and resilient timing platform for synchronizing mission-critical defense electronic systems, communication systems, radars and networks.

Highlights:

  • M-Code and/or SAASM simultaneous signal tracking
  • Improved jamming immunity and a more secure GPS signal
  • 50 ns accuracy to UTC(USNO)
  • Four standard GbE ports, with two additional 10 GbE ports optional
  • Contains most popular timing signal inputs/outputs standard in the base timing I/O module (IRIG B, 10 MHz, 1PPS)
  • Rubidium atomic clock or OCXO oscillator upgrades
  • Superior 10 MHz low phase noise options

Unparalleled Flexibility

The modular Microchip S650 M-Code combines the best of time and frequency instrumentation with unique flexibility and powerful network/security-based features.

The base Timing I/O module with eight BNC connectors comes standard with the most popular timing I/O signals (IRIG B, 10 MHz, 1PPS and so on). When more flexibility is required, the unique Microchip FlexPortTM Technology option enables six of the BNCs to output any supported signals (time codes, sine waves, programmable rates), all configurable in real time via the secure web interface. The incredible BNC-by-BNC configuration makes very efficient and cost-effective use of the 1U space available. Similar functionality is also applied to the two input BNCs. Unlike legacy modules with fixed count BNCs outputting fixed signal types per module, FlexPort technology can allow up to 12 BNCs output in any combination of supported signal types. This level of timing signal flexibility is very powerful and can even eliminate the need for additional signal distribution chassis as there is no degradation in the precise quality of the coherent output signals.

Superior Low Noise Performance

For applications requiring superior low phase noise (LPN) 10 MHz signals, two different LPN modules are available. Each module has eight extremely isolated 10 MHz LPN outputs with each module offering excellent levels of LPN or Ultra LPN performance.

Robust Timing and Design

The GPS M-Code MPE-M Type II PPS L1/L2 receiver coupled with Microchip’s patented active thermal compensation technology provides excellent accuracy of <50 ns RMS to UTC (UNSO). This is all in addition to a durable hardware design subjected to MIL-STD-810G testing, high-reliability components extending the operating temperature range from -20°C to 65°C, and a dual power supply option. In addition, upgrading to a high-performance oscillator, such as a Rubidium atomic clock, keeps the S650 accurate for long periods in the event of a GPS service disruption.

Secure Networking

Security is an inherent part of the S650 M-Code. In addition to many security features and protocols, unsecure access protocols are deliberately omitted while remaining services can be disabled. The four standard GbE ports, and two optional 10 GbE ports, accommodate more than 10,000 NTP requests per second using hardware time stamping and compensation. For more secure NTP operations, enable the optional security-hardened NTP Reflector with line speed, 100% hardware-based NTP packet processing.

DISA/DoDIN Approved Product

DISA Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) has tested and certified the SyncServer S650 M-Code Network Time Server for Cybersecurity/Interoperability compliance, and listed it on the Department of Defense Information Network (DoDIN) Approved Products List (APL). The SyncServer S650 M-Code meets the critical Unified Capabilities Requirements as a Timing and Synchronization device and is certified for joint military use.

Leverage built-in hardware

The S650 M-Code includes additional built-in hardware features enabled through software license keys such as the security-hardened NTP Reflector and IEEE 1588 PTP output/input operations.

The SyncServer S650 M-Code – the best choice for mission-critical operations.

TAYLOR GAUNTT

Field Sales Engineer

Taylor is a Texas native, and grew up in the small town of Boerne, Texas.  He attended Texas A&M University, where earned his bachelor’s degree in Engineering.  After college he was recruited by a Manufacturer’s Rep Firm, where he spent the first 7 years of his career. Initially hired on as an inside salesperson, Taylor quickly accelerated within the organization and expanded into various other roles such as Distribution Manager, and Field Sales Engineer.  Taylor then spent the following 7 years working for an electronic component distributor named Electro Enterprises that almost exclusively supported the mil/aero market.

Taylor worked as a Field Sales Engineer supporting the Texas, Utah and New Mexico territory, Product Manager, as well as Director or Business Development where he managed a team of 10 Field Sales Professionals across the entire United States.  Gathering from his previous experiences, Taylor has now taken on the role of Field Sales Engineer with Vic Myers supporting the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas territory.  Outside of the office you will usually find Taylor either spending time with his wife and two young children, or out on the lake bass fishing.
