Salt Spray Corrosion Test Chambers
Modern, Versatile Corrosion Testing Systems
S1000iS
Ascott salt spray test chambers are among the world’s most modern and versatile corrosion test systems, designed with ergonomic features and outstanding build quality. These chambers cover every testing requirement, from continuous salt spray tests to condensation humidity and various modified tests.
Two Specification Levels
Standard (iS)
Standard Ascott salt spray test chambers meet basic continuous salt spray test requirements at a single temperature, complying with international standards such as ASTM B117, ISO 9227, and JIS Z 2371. They are suitable for pH neutral salt solutions (NSS) or acidified solutions (ASS and CASS).
Premium (iP)
Premium models include all Standard features and offer additional capabilities for ‘modified’ tests defined in ASTM G85, combining salt spray with other climates in a two-part cycle to accelerate corrosion testing. Examples include salt spray plus condensation humidity (SWAAT), drying (PROHESION), or SO2 testing (ASTM G85 A4).
Seven Model Sizes
- 120 Ltr (4.2 cu ft)
- 300 Ltr (10.5 cu ft)

- 2600 Ltr (91.8 cu ft)
Key Features
- Low loading threshold designed for ergonomic loading and unloading.
- ‘Easy Open’ pneumatically operated canopy with safety interlock.
- Dry seal gasket prevents wetting the operator’s clothing.
- Timed canopy lock and automatic fresh air purge after testing and before opening.
- Easily accessible transparent acrylic salt spray atomizer(s) for straightforward maintenance.
- External portable salt solution tanks sized appropriately for chamber models (115L for 300/400L, 73L for 450L, and 90L for 1000L and above).
- Central viewing window allows unimpeded observation of the chamber interior and test specimens.
- Base castors and integrated forklift runners enable easy transportation.
- Custom canopy color options to suit your preference.
- Calibration certificate provided with each chamber.
- Consumables spares kit included.
- Fallout Measuring Kit available.
Cyclic Corrosion Chambers
Ascott cyclic corrosion cabinets – one of the world’s most sophisticated and versatile corrosion test systems available, combining salt spray with other environmental conditions such as controlled humidity, drying and wetting.
As standard they come with the ability to create 6 distinct climates:
• Salt spray
• Condensation humidity (wetting)
• Forced air drying
• Temperature Only
• Ambient drying
• Controlled humidity
These may be programmed to occur in any sequence and be repeated automatically. A wide range of optional accessories enable additional climates to be added to further extend the number of climates and conditions that can be created.

Atmosfär Chambers
Atmosfär chambers have been specifically designed for fully automatic testing in accordance with highly demanding laboratory accelerated corrosion tests which have become increasingly popular in some sectors of the automotive industry. These tests are cyclic in nature and comprise of exposure under controlled and varying conditions of temperature and humidity, with intermittent spraying of a salt solution directly on to the samples under test, from a high level swaying spray bar.

Extensive optional testing facilities:
Extensive range of optional testing facilities, such as SO2 gas dosing and liquid immersion. The chamber can be selected with one of three different cooling options

- EcoCool 20°/68°F
- Lite Version down to 20°C / 68°F
- Sub Zero version down to -20°C / -4°F
- Sub Zero version down to -40°C / -40°F
- Now also available with CO2 Cooling according to EU F-GAS regulation 2024/573
- Water cooling options are available for the sub zero options if heat dissipation is an issue where the chamber is installed.
Features
- Oscillating spray bar with magnetically coupled drive system, for compliance with the most demanding automotive test standards.
- Integrated air conditioning unit, to achieve demanding temperature and humidity combinations.
- Psychrometric humidity control module, for more exacting control of humidity, especially at levels around 95% RH.
- An option of different cooling units from Ambient control (Lite Model) to sub zero at -20 or -40 degrees C. Water cooled options are also available for sub cooling units where room heat dissipation is an issue.
- Now also available with CO2 Cooling according to EU F-GAS regulation 2024/573
Kesternich Chamber
Kesternich Chamber simulates acid rain or industrial chemical exposure to evaluate the relative corrosion resistance of the coating, substrate, or part itself. Parts or panels are placed inside a specially designed chamber and are exposed to SO2 and condensation humidity before being evaluated for resistance to corrosion. A specific volume of SO2 gas, usually 0.2L, 1L or 2L is introduced into the test chamber, the chamber temperature is increased to a predetermined level and the relative humidity is maintained at condensation levels. After a set period, the chamber is vented and the temperature is allowed to decrease to ambient conditions.
Features
- SO2/Humidity mode
- Condensation Humidity mode
- Air Flushing mode
- Fully automated electronic gas dosing system
- Hermetically sealed chamber with Automatic air purge function with canopy interlock
- User friendly control system with Pneumatic canopy control
- Automatic drain and exhaust system
- Digital precision temperature control
- Temperature graphical display
- Interior viewing window with illumination
- Ethernet communication port
